Examine Your Fruit

Many times in scripture it is mentioned, the subject of believers and non. However, we need to also consider that a portion of these nonbelievers are in our very midst and are confused into thinking that they are one of the sheep of Christ.

In our modern church the gospel is often packaged and stamped in fluffy feathers and bows to appeal to the masses. Trying to draw in a crowd this way works but not in the way you would think. It draws many people but it does not bring contrition of heart necessary for salvation.

Contrition by definition means to feel remorse or penitence. If the person in question goes forward to "accept Christ" and has not counted the cost of following Christ or understood the weight of his sin then he is not fit for the kingdom. This person has likely falsely converted. Thinking he has acquired salvation by mearly asking without the pennant heart necessary for repentance.

This person then lives their life thinking that they have their ticket for eternity. God is in their back pocket for life, they should have happy days all their life, and not go to hell later on. Sounds like the perfect package, stop some sins or ask forgiveness every so often and come to church occasionally. Christianity is a breeze.

And we as believers are very tempted to forget to make sure that the blunt truth of the gospel is preached, just to save feelings. In reality we are paving the road to hell for our friends, parents, and children. The very people we care about the most. The world must know the truth of their condition so that they can come to the foot of the cross primed for salvation. Show them the truth and be honest about sin. Only then will they see their position before a Holy God come gratefully and repentant to the Lord.

”Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.“

‭‭Romans‬ ‭7‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

If you find yourself concerned about your standing with God examine your fruit, or even lack thereof. The Bible says,

”The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,“

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

If you are one of God's children it is your most important duty to reach your friends and family with the gospel. Don't fear what they will think of the truth but fear what they will think if you never tried to tell them. If you find yourself in this position of a false conversion go before God's laws. They will show you your sins and then go to the story of the cross to see what has been done for your sins. Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus. Salvation is belief to the point of action. Do you believe God's words about sin and it's severity to the point of turning to Him in gratefulness for the gift of the cross?

”The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.“

‭‭II Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
