The Hardest Heart

The hardest of hearts sits in the pew.

They look pretty normal to me and to you.

Their countenance maintains that they are fine.

But inside the heart cools with time.

Hardest of hearts won't you come home?

Into the fold no more to roam.

You blame God for all of your roaming.

But you are the reason for your own groaning.

God isn't looking to strike you dead.

His grace is abounding just like you've read.

You feel abandoned and left to suffer.

But God the whole time has been your buffer.

Quit waiting for God to fail like them.

Don't listen to feelings blown by every whim.

He has chosen you and wants to include you.

Hardest of hearts won't you come too?

Was His blood shed not enough?

Was His first move in this relationship too tough?

Too tough for you to accept?

Or too tough to lay down your pride and not reject?

Hardest of hearts put away your pride.

It's the only thing making you feel dead inside.

Do not blame God for your lack of understanding.

He gives wisdom graciously, not withholding.

Hardest of hearts again goes out the call.

To end the battle once and for all.

To feel the peace and joy you've ached to feel.

How many more times must He make it real?
